TMI’s Sam Webb reported that the freshman OT asked for his release to be able to speak with other schools. Although that sounded like he had intentions to transfer, Hall tweeted this out in regards to the situation:

Per a source, the subject matter of the Hall saga centers around he and his family questioning if Michigan is the “right fit” for him. It’s believed that the crowded offensive line group that has seen little hype around Hall plays a big role in this situation. Home sickness does not, as his family is a mere 20 minutes from Ann Arbor.
Despite all of that, TWL has learned that Hall is staying put for now.
The Wolverine Lounge’s Brandon Justice tweeted about this Wednesday:
I?m told by a reliable source that #Michigan OL Ja?Raymond Hall has not been released from team or asked for release. Hall had a meeting with coaches and came to an agreement and reached a ?common ground.? Fully active with team & practices. — Brandon Justice (@BrandonBJustice) November 29, 2017

Update:
TMI’s Sam Webb reported once-more with a confirmation that Hall was granted release but didn’t decide to take action, despite the opportunity being there. The biggest twist in all of this: Other schools have the release, as reported by Webb.
“He has received his release to communicate with other schools” – Unequivocal. Confirmed at least one other school has that release. Obviously he could decide not to transfer. Maintaining team standing preserves that as a possibility — Sam Webb (@SamWebb77) November 30, 2017

A source told TWL that both Hall & coaches met this week. Concerns from Hall were brought up and believed to have been smoothed out. He’s fully participating in all team activities & practices as of Wednesday night.
TWL learned that Hall transferring could still happen in the future, but it’s a lot less likely for the immediate future. Even with it being smoothed out for now, requesting your release isn’t a good situation.
All in all, it’s a weird situation that we have not seen inside Michigan’s doors before. Stay updated on this story with TWL.
