BREAKING: Michigan to host Outback Bowl practices at high school of 5-star recruit

Football

A source confirmed to The Wolverine Lounge on Monday that Michigan will host its Outback Bowl practices at Berkeley Prep HS – home of a 5-star OT? recruit the Wolverines are targeting.

Jim Harbaugh isn’t foreign to finding unique ways to get recruits’ attention. While the Wolverines are in Tampa, Fla. for the Outback Bowl, he’s found a new way to grab 5-star OT Nicholas Petit-Frere?s.

Though the Wolverines cannot recruit him while on campus, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him pay some attention to the Wolverines’ practices – being that it’s his high school and that’s completely legal by NCAA rules.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Petit-Frere is the No. 17 overall recruit, and the nation’s No. 3 overall tackle.

The Wolverines’ biggest need on the roster is tackle – so prioritizing Petit-Frere, and other tackles, has been a big initiative late in the 2018 cycle.

Michigan hosted its spring practices two years ago at IMG Academy, home to the nation’s most storied football program. The program – Harbaugh specifically – received a lot of heat for the move.

TWL said last week that Michigan will gain some momentum down the stretch for Petit-Frere.

Now, they certainly will.

You should really consider changing your click-bait summary. “Michigan’s been known for practice scandals in the past”? Please explain how operating within NCAA rules is scandalous.

  2. saying you used the word as ?sarcasm? under the present circumstances without making it obvious it?s sarcasm, is casting a further negative connotation on the already sometimes unfair and unkind verbal attacks Harbaugh has had to deal with already. I know he doesn?t really care what others think as long as he is operating under the rules, but using that word as sarcasm only adds to the perceived negativity. If it didn?t, you would have never heard from the previous poster. Just sayin.

  3. GREAT remarks Steve and I?m an Alabama fan.

  4. Can you say 8 – 4! Try concentrating on beating a team with a winning record rather than showcasing a team that came in 4th place, hasn’t beaten its #1 rival and whose coach isnt worth close to what he’s being paid. Ha ha. Go Blew!

    • Are you really a state fan? If so, what?s with the trolling? Shouldn?t you be concentrating on San Diego and not Tampa?

  5. Looks like 247 doesn’t give UM a shot at landing him.

  6. Jesus Jim how about just coaching your team. Crap, all this hype about you I’m wondering if you can coach

  8. Only fair that you now write articles about where the other 79 teams will host practices while away at their bowls games and target players nearby. I’ll wait…

  9. You should mention that Perit-Frere translates to little brother!
