Former Michigan football players Roy Roundtree (Thursday) and Allen Gant (Sunday) rejoined the Wolverines as grad assistants.

Roundtree joins following a stint with Indiana State and Gant following a coaching stint in the high school basketball ranks.

Roy Roundtree (Eric Upchurch)

Roundtree should be well known to readers of this blog. He played from ’09-’12 and led Michigan in receptions in ’09 and ’10 and was All-Big Ten Second Team in ’10 and All-Big Ten Honorable Mention in ’12.

He’s been a college WR coach for the past three seasons on three different teams (CSU-Pueblo, Limestone College and Indiana State).

Roundtree will be the assistant wide receivers coach, a group that – depending on your point of view – underperformed last year; Although, it’s hard to know how much of that was due to the quarterback situation.

He authored some pretty incredible moments as a Wolverine:

Gant isn’t as well-known and has a thinner resume.

Thus, he’ll be a Michigan football intern, according to his Twitter bio.

He appeared in 18 games from ’13-’15 as a reserve linebacker and special teams specialist.

Until being hired by Michigan, Gant was a high school basketball assistant coach:

For what it’s worth, his dad, Tony, played safety for the Wolverines from ’82-’86.

Gant will be a defensive & special teams assistant in his return to Ann Arbor.
