Michigan lands commitment from 4-star Georgia OT

Michigan landed a commitment from Grasyon (Ga.) 4-star OT Trente Jones Wednesday evening.?

The 2019 recruit from one of the nation’s top high school football programs announced his commitment via Twitter following a weekend trip to Ann Arbor.

“If you’re going to go … Go Blue,” Jones penned in his letter announcing his pledge to the Wolverines.

Jones is the fifth commit in Michigan’s 2019 class and the fourth 4-star.

The 247Sports Composite ranks Jones as the country’s No. 36 OT and No. 333 overall prospect.

The 6-6, 282-pounder possessed offers from all over the country, including: Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Texas A&M and more. He totaled 16 Division I offers.

Florida was the team to beat just under a month ago, but all it took was a weekend trip to Michigan for the Wolverines to garner the big-time commitment.

Michigan’s need for tackle is obvious. The program’s biggest struggle in the Jim Harbaugh era has been its offensive line play, specifically the tackles. The more tackles committed, the better – especially when they’re 4-stars out of top programs like Jones.

Now the question is: Can Michigan hang onto Jones until Signing Day?

  1. Nice pickup for the staff. Looks like UGA hasn’t offered yet, so I guess we’ll see if he will stay. Definitely helps our chances since we got to him before UGA did.
