Earlier today, CBS sports posted an article giving out their “College Basketball Awards” for the 2017-2018 college basketball season:

Their choice for coach of the year? Michigan?head coach?John Beilein.
It seems that Michigan’s run in the tournament thus far played a big role in the CBS staff giving him the title. Beilein wasn’t even the coach of the year in the Big Ten, an award that was given to Ohio State’s Chris Holtmann.
The article also points to his evolution as a coach by emphasizing defense, and the Wolverines being on a?long win streak as reasons why he was selected. Michigan’s last loss was on February 6th to the Northwestern Wildcats.
Riding a 13 game win-streak, Michigan currently has a 32-7 record going into their Final Four matchup with their final four matchup with Loyola-Chicago coming this Saturday, March 31st. Many people thought that it would be a down year for the team, after losing many key players. The Wolverines always have a shot with John Beilein at the helm.
