It’s been two years since Grant Newsome has played football.
Newsome was a sophomore when he was starting at left tackle for the No. 4-ranked Michigan Wolverines in October of 2016.
During a close game against undefeated Wisconsin, Newsome went down with a leg injury that ended his season and almost his life.
For the past two years, the New Jersey native has trained to get back on the field. It’s been a long wait for Newsome, his peers, and Michigan fans, to find out if he would take the field again.
On Monday afternoon, Newsome penned an emotional message on Twitter, announcing his official medical retirement from football.
