In-state 3-star LB commits to Michigan

Michigan football keeps on rollin’ in the recruiting world.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Wolverines added a prospect to their 2020 class by way of West Bloomfield (Mich.) in 3-star inside linebacker, Cornell Wheeler.

Wheeler committed to the Wolverines over contending schools Ohio State, Michigan State and Wisconsin. Ball State, Kentucky and Iowa State were also in the running for a while.

His decision was announced via Twitter with a graphic of Wheeler dressed in a “Living the Legacy” shirt. His caption states:?HOMETOWN HERO, 1000% COMMITTED.

The nation?s No. 466 overall prospect, according to 247Sports, Wheeler is also the No. 15 overall inside linebacker in the nation and the No. 18 ranked player in the state of Michigan. At 6-foot-1, 220 pounds, he projects to be a great fit in Don Brown’s blitz-heavy defense. He has solid speed and tackling ability, and with more room to fill out and increase his strength, his development is worth keeping an eye on.

You can get a better glimpse of his potential from his Hudl profile.
