Top quotes from Jim Harbaugh’s post-Nebraska press conference

ANN ARBOR —?Michigan bullied Nebraska 56-10 in its Big Ten opener on Saturday afternoon. Following the contest, Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh entered the Crisler Center media room with a bright smile and his usual sweater-and-khakis combination.

This presser was different than usual for the fourth-year head coach as it followed arguably the most dominant victory over a respected opponent by Michigan since his debut in 2015.

Here’s what Jim Harbaugh had to say following Michigan’s blowout of Nebraska.

On the offensive line:?“Really ran the ball well, protected the passer extremely well. Really did well on all of the plays … our offensive line played extremely well.”

On Michigan’s team maturation😕Hard work is paying off for this team — mainly what I notice. They don’t complain about it. They actually get it and ramp it up every day. We don’t need motivational swings or talks or some of the things some teams need. They go to work and they seem to enjoy it.”

On Michigan’s physicality: “I thought my team played very physical in all phases — offensively, defensively, special teams. Showed up in the 1-on-1 matchups and on the goal line. Showed up on the punt return — some great blocks there. Physically we played well today.”

On Michigan’s quarterback play:?“Yeah, I thought they were both good — really on top of what they were doing and in control. I thought both had real good presence in the pocket, going through their reads. Dylan continues to improve every time he gets in … it’s never too big for him.”

On safety Josh Metellus:?“I thought Josh Metellus showed up quite a few times in coverage and in tackling. Great experience for Aidan Hutchinson — he’s in the two-deep now.”

On the defense’s dominance:?“A great job by the front four, and Devin Bush continues to shut down the option plays, looking as fast as the backs, which he is.”

On safety Brad Hawkins:?“Good to see Brad Hawkins, a really ascending player who had a great block on the punt return”

On freshman WR Ronnie Bell:?“Nice to see Ronnie Bell make a heck of a play, an excellent throw from Dylan (McCaffrey).”

On Quinn Nordin and Will Hart:?“Great to see a 50-yarder from Quinn (Nordin) and Will Hart continues to punt well.”

On fullback Ben Mason, who finished with three touchdowns:?“I like having Ben Mason in the game. You talk about a physical player … happy to have him on our team, taking advantage of his skill-set.”

On getting more guys in the game:?“We played 78 guys today. Not just important for morale, but for the progress of our team.”
