Week 5: Who’s In? Who’s Out?

Football

Each week before kickoff, The Wolverine Lounge will list impact players who are in and out of action.

From our eyes, here’s the Week 5 list ahead of No. 20 Michigan’s matchup with Rutgers.

In:

QB Shea Patterson — Patterson was evaluated for an injury last week, but Jim Harbaugh listed him as probable” at Monday’s press conference. He’ll be the Wolverines’ starting quarterback against the Scarlet Knights.

WR Donovan Peoples-Jones — Michigan’s star junior wideout recorded just one catch in his season debut last weekend after beginning the year in a walking boot. He was dressed for warmups.

RB Zach Charbonnet — After recording just two carries for six yards amid injury rumblings last week, Charbonnet is dressed for this afternoon’s game.

RB Tru Wilson — The senior pass-blocking guru was dressed for pregame warmups. He has not played since the Wolverines’ victory over Middle Tennessee State.

DL Mike Dwumfour — Dwumfour, who’s been hampered by injuries for most of this season, is “expected to play” against Rutgers, per Harbaugh. He warmed up with the other usual starters — Aidan Hutchinson, Carlo Kemp and Kwity Paye — during pregame reps.

Out:

QB Dylan McCaffrey — The junior signal-caller sustained a concussion in last week’s loss to Wisconsin and see the field against Rutgers.

TE Sean McKeon — McKeon injured himself on a touchdown reception against the Badgers. Harbaugh listed him as doubtful for this weekend’s game on Monday, elevating Nick Eubanks to the top of the tight end depth chart.

LB Josh Ross — The junior linebacker sustained an injury against Wisconsin and won’t suit up against the Scarlet Knights. Expect to see more of Jordan Anthony and Cam McGrone in his place.
