Thursday Recruiting Roundup: McGregor, Johnson and More

Recruiting

Welcome back to this Thursday’s recruiting roundup. This and every Thursday, The Wolverine Lounge will be here to give you all the latest news in Michigan recruiting.

Here’s this week’s installment:

DE Commit Out For Season

2020 4-star SDE commit Braiden McGregor (MICH.) suffered a season ending knee injury on Friday night. McGregor tore his MCL, PCL and meniscus. The senior plans to have surgery next week.

This is a huge bummer for the Port Huron prospect, however, he does still intend on enrolling early in Ann Arbor. McGregor commited to Michigan back in May over Notre Dame.

247Sports’ Composite Rankings list him as the no. 107 overall player in the 2020 class, the no. 4 SDE and the no. 2 player in Michigan.

Four-Star DE Confirms Return Visit

2021 WDE prospect Rodney McGraw (IN.) made his first visit to Ann Arbor in September for the Wolverines’ 24-21 victory over Army and came away impressed with his experience. He was expected to visit when Michigan faced Rutgers but had to reschedule due to his high school game getting postponed.

Brice Marich of The Michigan Insider confirmed that McGraw will be back at the Big House on November 16th for Michigan’s showdown with Michigan State.

McGraw has three crystal balls, all in Michigan’s favor. He is ranked as the no. 308 player overall, the no. 18 WDE and the no. 5 player in Indiana according to 247 Sports.

Theo Johnson to Visit Penn State

One of the biggest fish left in the 2020 pond for Michigan, 4-star TE Theo Johnson (ON.)  will see the Wolverines play again this Saturday after seeing them two weeks ago vs Iowa. However this time, it will be on the Penn State side. Johnson will be taking a visit to Happy Valley for Saturday night’s Wolverine vs Nittany Lion showdown.

Johnson stated that he’s been to Penn State “a bunch of times” and is “looking to see a good game and get around the players once again.”

Michigan remains in his top 4 along with Georgia, Iowa and Penn State in no particular order.

247Sports’ Composite Rankings list Johnson as the No. 95 overall player in the class, the No. 3 TE, and the top player in Ontario, Canada.

2021 RB Hoping for Offseason Visit

4-star RB Evan Pryor (NC.) was offered by Michigan in January and is hoping to make a visit to Ann Arbor sometime in the winter or spring. The highly talented tailback also has offers from Ohio State, Oregon, Georgia and Penn State among others.

He has one crystal ball prediction in favor of Georgia with the other as undecided. Pryor is ranked as the no. 82 overall prospect in his class, the no. 4 running back and the no. 4 player in North Carolina.
