Friday Recruiting Roundup: Visitors for The Game

Welcome back to this week’s recruiting roundup. At the end of every week, The Wolverine Lounge will be here to give you all the latest news in Michigan recruiting.

Here’s this week’s installment:

Theo Johnson Talks Recruitment

2020 4-star TE Theo Johnson (ON.), the top player in the Canada, changed his decision date and has yet to set a new date for his commitment. However, he did sit down for a lengthy interview where he talked his announcement plan and where he stands in his recruitment.

A large part of the conversation focused on Michigan’s recruiting style and how it differs from other schools.

“Honestly, just the way they’ve recruited me, they’ve done it a little bit different”, said Johnson. “They’re going to give me my space, but every once in a while they’ll let me know, ‘hey, obviously we really want you here.’  Which is different.”

247Sports Composite ranks Johnson as the No. 95 player overall, the No. 3 TE and the top player in Ontario.

2020 Commit Visiting for The Game

3-Star SDE commit Kris Jenkins (MD.) will be one of the many players in Ann Arbor this weekend for the biggest game of the season.

Jenkins committed to the Wolverines in the summer and will be taking his first trip back to Ann Arbor since his commitment.

The Good Counsel prospect is the no. 502 player overall, the no. 24 SDE and the no. 18 player in Maryland according to 247Sports Composite.

Elite 2022 QB Making Trip to Ann Arbor

4-Star Pro Style QB Nicco Marchiol (Colo.) will be in attendance for The Game this weekend, his fourth trip to Michigan and his second this season. He was in town when Michigan defeated Army 24-21 in September.

Marchiol currently has two Crystal Ball predictions, both in favor of the Wolverines. He has scholarship offers from Georgia, Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Kentucky along with a few other schools.

247Sports ranks Marchiol as the no. 74 prospect overall in the 2022 class, the no. 2 Pro Style QB and the no. 2 player in Colorado.

In-State OL Set to Visit

Another player who visited for the Army game and will be visiting this weekend is 2021 3-Star OT Caleb Tiernan (Mich.).

The 6-foot-7, 270-pound tackle has offers from Ohio State, Michigan State and Penn State as well but has all four Crystal Ball’s in favor of the Wolverines.

Tiernan is ranked as the no. 426 prospect overall, the no. 46 OT and the no. 11 player in the state of Michigan by 247Sports.

So Cal OT Making Trip To Big House

A few weeks after adding a 4th star, 2020 commit Jeffrey Persi (Calif.) will be making the trip from California to Michigan to be in town for Michigan-Ohio State.

The J Serra Catholic prospect committed to Michigan in the summertime and had a strong senior season which led to the ratings boost.

247Sports Composite rankings list Persi as the no. 315 player overall in the 2020 class, the no. 26 OT and the no. 26 prospect in California.

That’s all for this week’s roundup folks! Next week we will have a recap of all the visitors from the Ohio State game.
