Thoughts on Michigan QB situation after Wilton Speight announces plans to transfer

In other words, he’ll be grad transferring.

This is probably best for both parties involved. This looks to be Brandon Peters’ team moving forward.

Thank you, Michigan. These past 4 years have been nothing short of spectacular. Enrolling in January of 2014 as a kid from Virginia i didn’t know what to expect. Four years later i leave a Michigan Man. The amazing memories with my teammates, playing under the best coaches in America, and enjoying everything that this wonderful university and town have to offer- what a ride. To the fans that stuck with us through thick and thin— thank you. To Coach Hoke for giving a kid with no offers a chance— thank you. To Coach Harbaugh for coming in and making me a better man and a better quarterback. For understanding this decision of mine and always having my back no matter what— thank you. I don’t know where next will be, and I’ll use these next four weeks to figure that out. i’m excited to keep pursuing my dreams in a new jersey, but will forever root for the boys wearing the winged helmet. Go blue!

Wilton Speight – like John O?Korn – was an amazing face for the program. Killer interview, well-versed, etc. Most importantly: He went from the HBO special, 4th string QB, to the starting QB on a 10-2 team.

Wish him the absolute best, as should the entire fan base.

It seemed Speight always got all of the blame for a loss, and never any credit for the success this team had. Regardless, Speight is a good dude and I hope that he can make something of his fresh start.

Is Michigan getting a grad transfer?

My expectation is no.

There have been rumors of former No. 1 quarterback, Shea Patterson, and former No. 2 quarterback Jacob Eason, from the 2016 class having interest in playing for Michigan. Patterson is the starting quarterback at Ole Miss, and only played seven games this season due to a knee injury. Eason was also injured, and is the current the back up to freshman quarterback Jake Fromm for Georgia.

These rumors seem to be a product of circumstances than actually having merit, at least for now.

Why should we trust Brandon Peters?

The rumored knocks on Peters at the beginning of the season had nothing to do with his talent on the field.

Allegedly, Peters’ problems were mental, but we have seen what he can do when he gets out on the field. In 5 games this year, the redshirt freshman completed 58% of his passes for 4 touchdowns with no intereceptions.

Michigan fans shouldn’t worry about getting a grad transfer. Brandon Peters is legit, true freshman Dylan McCaffrey has had high praise, and the staff still has Joe Milton and Kevin Doyle in the fold.

Quick note: With Chip Kelly getting the job at UCLA, we are wondering what is going to happen to Jedd Fisch. He would definitely be welcomed back with open arms. Fisch was the coach that recruited Peters.
