A source confirmed to The Wolverine Lounge on Monday that Michigan will host its Outback Bowl practices at Berkeley Prep HS – home of a 5-star OT  recruit the Wolverines are targeting.

Jim Harbaugh isn’t foreign to finding unique ways to get recruits’ attention. While the Wolverines are in Tampa, Fla. for the Outback Bowl, he’s found a new way to grab 5-star OT Nicholas Petit-Frere’s.

Though the Wolverines cannot recruit him while on campus, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him pay some attention to the Wolverines’ practices – being that it’s his high school and that’s completely legal by NCAA rules.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Petit-Frere is the No. 17 overall recruit, and the nation’s No. 3 overall tackle.

The Wolverines’ biggest need on the roster is tackle – so prioritizing Petit-Frere, and other tackles, has been a big initiative late in the 2018 cycle.

Michigan hosted its spring practices two years ago at IMG Academy, home to the nation’s most storied football program. The program – Harbaugh specifically – received a lot of heat for the move.

TWL said last week that Michigan will gain some momentum down the stretch for Petit-Frere.

Now, they certainly will.
