Michigan added a transfer QB on Monday afternoon in former Ole Miss QB Shea Patterson. The former No. 1 recruit at his position announced via Twitter that he is headed to Ann Arbor for his final years of eligibility.
Patterson comes to Michigan as a member of the 2016 class – where he was ranked as the nation’s best QB. He’s had family ties to the Wolverines dating back to his childhood, when he grew up a fan of the Wolverines.

The hype surrounding Patterson’s inevitable commitment to the Wolverines started a few weeks ago, as fans were campaigning for the QB to come to Ann Arbor, as the QB position has been largely a disappointment in Harbaugh’s tenure. Most of that is due to the position’s performance in the 2017 season.
It hit a peak following his visit to Michigan over the weekend – accompanied by two other Ole Miss transfers, in Deontay Anderson and Van Jefferson. Following his visit, his commitment was simply a matter of time, not a matter of if.

Finally, mid day Monday, the commitment came, and the Wolverine faithful took a breath of fresh air.
Patterson – who threw for over 3,000 yards in 10 games over two seasons while at Ole Miss – brings a QB talent that hasn’t been seen at Michigan since the Lloyd Carr era.
He brings a style of play similar to that of Heisman Trophy winners Baker Mayfield and Johnny Manziel. A style that Michigan hasn’t seen in some time. An air-raid-esque man under center, Patterson’s fit into the offense will be interesting. Though it’s expected that the playbook will do some fair adjusting to fit his explosive play.
